About Tina Marie Ugland

Hello, my name is Tina Ugland and I would like to start by thanking you for visiting my web blog. The purpose is to tell you, my future client, about myself and the services I offer. I have been in Lee County since 1995 and lived here previously for a year in 1990. I have been married for 17 years and we have a son who is 15 years old and attends Ida Baker High School.

I attended Edison College on a part time basis in order to receive an Associate of Science Degree in Accounting. Obviously the process took longer than 2 years since I was only attending part time. I must say that it was a challenge at times to be a mother, wife, student and employee but the payoff has definitely been worth it. I started my accounting career prior to graduation and I continued to learn new skills and advance within the companies I have worked for. I have been fortunate to work for some very good companies including Good Wheels and Bundschu Kraft, Inc.

I am currently working on my Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Franklin University in Ohio. I take my classes online and it is a great opportunity for me to obtain my degree without having to spend time in a classroom. I take as many classes each semester as time allows; upon graduation on plan on taking the CPA examination. I know from experience that the process will take longer since I attend part time, but I also know that the experience and knowledge will make it worthwhile.

There are several reasons why I decided to start my own business. The main reason was that I recognized a need within our community for independent bookkeepers and accountants. Naturally we already have several large accounting firms in the area but my target client does not need that type of firm. As with any large company, they have high overhead costs and must charge more for their services in order to cover these costs. Why would you want to pay more for bookkeeping through a CPA firm when you can get the same level of service from an independent accountant? Many people do not realize or understand the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant. If you refer to the Accounting Overview page you will see a description of the general functions these two positions.

It is my mission to make as many businesses and individuals as possible feel good about accounting and knowing their financial position. I think the reasons why so many people feel that accounting is a necessary evil is because they do not understand how beneficial it is. Another reason is that many companies overpay for this function by having someone on staff when it is not really necessary. Hiring someone who is unqualified or under qualified creates a two fold problem. The first being that the business is paying for something it is not getting and the other being that a qualified individual must be hired to do the work properly once the problem is recognized. Do yourself and your business a favor; hire a qualified accountant to handle your finances.
